March Programs at Salem Library
 
Storytime Cooperative  Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
The Cooperative meets every Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the library. Parents and caregivers participate in running the program, which presents music, crafts and stories to pre-schoolers. You and your child will meet other children. The children may be in school together for the next 14 years! Storytime is free and open to all and is coordinated by staff member Pat Aldrich The Friends provide financial support for supplies.
 

Cinema Paradisio

Friday, Mar 6,  7–9 PM

Film classic.  A celebration of youth, friendship, and the everlasting magic of movies.  Set in post-WWII Italy, a boy is enraptured by a movie theater and develops a bittersweet friendship with its mature-aged projectionist.   Salvatore Casico as the boy, Toto, won the Young Artists Award (for actors under 9 years old in a foreign film).  The film’s 13 festival awards also include Cannes, British Academy of Film & TV Arts, and US Academy.
Italy & France, 1988, drama/ comedy, English subtitles.  Rated R.

Irish Music, Saturday, March 7th at 2 p.m,
Welcome back the Gallaibh Ceilidh Band and join us for some rousing music from a popular local group.  Warm yourself up for St. Paddy’s day with familiar melodies and toe tapping tunes.
 
Owl Prowl, Saturday, March 14th at 11 a.m.
Kim Hargrave, Educational Director, from the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center will present a program on Owls in our neighborhood that includes a live Owl
 
Henna Workshop, Saturday, March 14th 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Anne Mac Fayden will conduct her popular Henna workshop. The workshop is aimed at Teens but adults, parents and siblings are welcome. Permission slips required for anyone under 18.  Class size limited. .
 

Gardening 2009 – The safe and easy way          Saturday, March 28th at 2 p.m.

Join Master gardener, Judy Aldrich, as she presents diverse approaches to natural gardening. Learn methods that should make easy on you and less harmful to the environment. This program will includes the use of pesticides and how we can replace them with healthy alternatives.
