Salem, CT. October 5, 2009 - If you are unable to come to the library, the library can come to you. The Salem Free Public Library located at 264 Hartford Road is offering a Homebound Program to all Salem and Bozrah residents, at no charge. You can use the program whether you are homebound long-term, or just temporarily due to illness, disability or advanced age.
Books, including large print, books on tape, magazines, DVDs and CDs can be delivered to your door. Your selected materials will be delivered to your home by trained volunteers, and they will also pick up any library items that you have completed. You can keep most of your materials for as long as three weeks. In addition, the Library will be delivering a batch of library items once a month to the Bozrah Senior Center which can be checked out from the Senior Center. This special collection will change every month on the second Friday. The service to the Bozrah Senior Center began on October 9th.
Just call the Library at (860) 859-1130 and indicate that you would like to participate in the Homebound Program. You need to provide your name, address, phone number and library card number. If your card is lost, expired or if you never had one the library staff can arrange to have a new one made for you. Please share what your interests are (types of books, preferred authors, etc) and the library staff will try to make suggestions. The Salem Library’s catalog can be accessed on the internet through the library’s website on salemct.gov.
