Mask Update for Municipal Buildings

Dear Fellow Townspeople,

 

Please be advised, effective Monday, August 23rd, 2021, wearing of masks will be required to enter all municipal buildings.

 

Furthermore, effective Monday, August 23rd, 2021, wearing of masks is strongly recommended when visiting all indoor business establishments in the Town of Salem.

 

We have and will continue following the guidance of Uncas Health District.

 

In a meeting yesterday with the 22 municipalities that make up our regional Council of Governments, we reached concurrence on the need to strongly encourage the wearing of masks while visiting indoor business establishments. We will meet again next week with our Regional Council of Governments and Uncas Health District.

 

We are monitoring the COVID-19 Delta Variant as it is responsible for the majority of hospitalizations in our region.

 

We need to work together as a community and a region to squash down the COVID-19 infection rate so we can continue to live our lives without further restrictions.
