Ongoing Problems with 1 New London Road Property at Salem Four Corners

Dear Fellow Townspeople,

We have had many issues with the 1 New London Road Property at Salem Four Corners.  After a thorough inspection by our Zoning Officer, Building Inspector and Fire Marshal, a list of violations was created.

At that time last year, we were assured by the manager and the owner of the property that those violations would be corrected.  Some issues were addressed, however many were deferred or dismissed.

Due to the lack of cooperation, a “Cease and Desist” order was issued to the owner of the property for outstanding Zoning and Building Violations.

We have also been working with our Health District regarding the 1 New London Road property.  Several times over the last year and this year, the Uncas Health District has been in contact with the owner regarding Health and Safety Issues.

Due to the lack of cooperation by the owner, I have ordered the Public Works Department to address the Health and Safety Issues at the 1 New London Road Property. 

The Town of Salem will file a lien on the property to recoup the expenses it has incurred.
