September 2020 COVID-19 Update

September 16th, 2020

Re: COVID-19 Update

Dear Fellow Townspeople,

It is now six months since we declared a State of Emergency due to the COVID-19 Pandemic for the Town of Salem on March 16th, 2020 and we are still operating under the State of Emergency today.  The COVID-19 Pandemic has been difficult for everyone.  Many generous residents and organizations donated funds to help their fellow Townspeople who have been affected by the Pandemic.  Others have donated their time to supply food on a weekly basis to Salem families that have been financially impacted by the Pandemic.  We are so fortunate for your generosity and kindness during this difficult time.

To date, our Town has had 16 confirmed cases and zero deaths.

Our Townspeople have done a very good job of social distancing and wearing of masks when needed.  Thank you for all your continued efforts.  This will be more important in the next few months as the weather turns colder.

COVID-19 will not be here forever.  Vaccines are being tested and will most likely become available in the early months next year.

Thank you again for your concerted efforts in dealing with the ongoing pandemic.

Respectfully,

Kevin T. Lyden

First Selectman
