Social Media Issues

Dear Fellow Townspeople;

I have received several complaints of rude, crass and bullying behavior on social media sites that mention Salem, Connecticut.  Several residents have mentioned that many comments are from individuals who do not reside in Salem.

These social media sites are run by private individuals.  The social networking is a valuable resource for participants, however, can be highly unregulated.  The Town of Salem does not have jurisdiction over these social media sites.

The Town of Salem has a wealth of information for residents on the www.Salemct.gov website.  This is the official and regulated website for Salem, Connecticut.
