COVID-19 Update from the Town of Salem

March 27, 2020

Dear Fellow Townspeople,

Please be advised that I have been notified by the Uncas Health District that we have our first confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in the Town of Salem. Confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in several neighboring communities.

As we continue through the next few weeks, it is imperative that every Salem resident practices proper social distancing and other recommendations of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention at cdc.gov to limit the spread of COVID-19 to your family and fellow townspeople.

Please continue to check on neighbors that may be living alone or are in need of assistance. Many families have suffered with job loss and reduced earnings due to the sudden onset of COVID-19. We are very fortunate that many organizations and townspeople have stepped forward to help during these difficult times.

The Board of Selectmen has extended the State of Emergency for the Town of Salem. This enables us to spend as needed for the lives, health and safety of the citizens of the Town of Salem.

Stay Healthy.

Respectfully,

Kevin Lyden
First Selectman
