Winter Reading for Teens & Adults (Ages 13 and up)Monday, February 3, 2020 to Monday, March 16, 2020. Register at the circulation desk to receive your reading log. Read whatever you would like, and as much or as little as you wish. You will receive a raffle ticket for each book read for a chance to win a prize at the end of the program. The raffle will be drawn on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
Learn the basics of needle felting through the process of creating your own needle felted heart. Participants will receive a set of
felting needles, a foam felting block, and enough wool to make at least three 1 ½ " - 2" wool hearts. No previous felting experience re-quired. Presented by Shannon Nasir of Little Red Hen Cottage. Teens (13+) to adult. Limit 10. Waiting list only!
Paint night for Couples-Wednesday, February 12, 2020
@ 6:00 p.m. Presented by Dawn Shumbo. You and your
partner (or a friend) will paint separate canvases. When placed together, your canvases will match up to create one picture! Limited to 5 pairs for a total of 10 participants.

Movie Matinee– Friday, February 14, 2020 @ 1:00 p.m. The incredible true story of Harriet Tubman, and her quest to lead hundreds of slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Free popcorn!
Movie Matinee-Midway-Friday, March 13, 1:00 p.m. In 1942, the Japanese forces once again tried to stage a sudden attack against their ene-mies — this time near Midway Atoll. The plan, however, was intercepted and the American forces arrived at the Pacific Ocean Theater just in time to stop them. Free popcorn!

Tea with Eleanor-Saturday, March 14, 2020 @ 11:00 a.m. Sheryl Faye will transport us back to the 1930s and 1940s with her portrayal of the “First Lady of the World,” Eleanor
Roosevelt. Tea and sweets will be served. Limit 25.

Movie Matinee-Friday, May 29, 1:00 p.m. A young man with Down
syndrome teams up with a scruffy outlaw to travel across the Southeast,
encountering colorful characters along the way. Rated PG-13. Free
popcorn.


Ongoing Events
Salem Knitters-The knitting group meets on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in the reading area of the Salem Free Public Library. The group meets weekly to work on their own projects or to contribute to the annual knitted goods sale to benefit the Friends of the Salem Library. Refreshments are served. Just drop in!
Mahjongg Group-Meets every Monday at 12:30 p.m. in the library’s program room. New players welcome!
Seniors Drop-in-The seniors meet every Tuesday from 12-4 in the program room. Come to the library to play Wii Sports games, such as baseball, boxing, bowling, golf and tennis as well as card and board games. Potluck refreshments are served.

Children’s/Family Programs


Take Your Child to the Library Day! (TYCLD) Saturday, February 1, 2020 @ 11:00 a.m. Author Jason Lefebvre, will read from his book, Too Much Glue, and talk about what it’s like to write a picture book. Books will be available for sale and sign-ing. Each child will receive an “I Love CT Libraries” tote bag, a TYCLD sticker and bookmark while supplies last. All ages welcome for the author event! Stay after the author event to make slime out of glue! (ages 5 & up). Please register so we can make sure we have enough supplies on hand! Limit 25 children, with a parent.

 

Truffala Tree Craft– Saturday, February 29, 2020 @ 11:00 a.m. In celebration of Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’
birthday! Ages 5 & up, limit 10.
Frozen II Movie & Cupcake Decorating-Saturday, March 28, 2020 @ 10:30 a.m. Come frost and decorate a cupcake to enjoy while watching the movie, Frozen II! *One cupcake & beverage per child, served in lieu of popcorn. Ages 4 & up. Limit 20.
